Qote Support
Buying and syncing
Do I have to buy Qote again for my Mac or iPad?
No. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. Download it on each device with the same Apple Account, at no extra cost.
How do my notes get from one device to another?
Through your own iCloud account. There is no Qote account to create: sign in to iCloud with the same Apple Account on each device, make sure iCloud is turned on for Qote, and your notes follow you.
My notes don’t show up on my other device
Check that both devices are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account.
Check that iCloud is turned on for Qote in your iCloud settings on both devices.
Open Qote on both devices while they are online. Changes usually arrive within a minute; Low Power Mode can delay them.
On iPhone and iPad, tap the status badge at the top of the notes list for details.
What does the status badge mean?
iCloud
Everything is syncing. Tap it to see when the last sync finished.
No iCloud
This device isn’t signed in to iCloud. Your notes are kept on this device only.
Offline
iCloud is temporarily out of reach. Qote catches up when it’s back.
Sync error
The last sync didn’t finish. Your notes are safe on this device and Qote tries again by itself; the panel shows the reason.
Local only
Qote couldn’t open its iCloud storage, so changes stay on this device. Quit and reopen Qote to try again; notes written meanwhile move to iCloud once it opens.
Restricted
This device doesn’t allow iCloud, for example because of Screen Time or a management profile.
Notes
Checklists
Tap Add a checklist in a note. Press Return to start the next item. Ticked items move down out of the way. Drag the ≡ handle at the start of a row to reorder, and tap ‹ next to an item to turn it into a category heading (› turns it back).
Reminders
Tap the bell (Add a reminder) in a note and pick a time. Qote asks for permission to send notifications the first time. Each of your devices reminds you, and a reminder that has gone off stays on the note (“Reminded yesterday at 09:00”) until you clear or change it.
Not getting reminders? Make sure notifications are allowed for Qote in your device’s notification settings.
Arranging and pinning
Notes stay in the order you put them. On iPhone and iPad, drag the ≡ handle on a note; on Mac, drag a note up or down the stack. To keep a note at the top, press and hold it (iPhone, iPad) or right-click it (Mac) and choose Pin to top.
Locked notes
Press and hold a note (or right-click it on Mac) and choose Lock note. A locked note shows only its title until you open it with Face ID, Touch ID, your passcode or your Mac’s login password. Locking needs a passcode on iPhone and iPad, or a login password on Mac.
Unlocking a note on one device doesn’t unlock it on your others, and leaving Qote locks it again.
Archive and delete
Archive tucks a note away without deleting it. Find archived notes behind the archive button at the top of the list (iPhone, iPad), or under Archived notes in the Qote menu or the rail’s ⋯ menu (Mac), and restore them from there.
Delete is permanent, on all your devices, and can’t be undone.
Links
Web addresses that start with http://, https:// or www., and email addresses, become links as you type. Tap or click one to open it.
On the Mac
Where is Qote?
Qote lives in the menu bar (the note icon) and as a thin rail of coloured tabs at the edge of your screen. Move the pointer onto the rail to fan out your notes, and click one to open it. Show notes in the menu bar brings the rail back if you lose it.
Moving the rail
Drag the grip ⠿ next to +. The rail snaps to the nearest left or right edge, on any display.
Start at Login and quitting
Turn Start at Login on or off, or quit Qote, from the menu bar icon or the rail’s ⋯ menu.
Purchases and refunds
Payments and refunds are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. To reinstall Qote, download it again from the App Store with the same Apple Account.
